Seguin is a small town located on the outskirts of New Braunfels and San Marcos. With a population of just over 30,000, it’s the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Seguin is home to a number of historic buildings, including the old county courthouse. Seguin, Texas is also home to the world’s largest pecan. The giant nut was discovered in 2006 by a local pecan farmer. Measuring in at 5 feet long and weighing in at 1,000 pounds, this giant pecan is truly a sight to behold. Toward the end of October or beginning of November, the town hosts its annual pecan fest to celebrate the record set all those years ago.
Downtown Seguin is a major attraction. Lined with restaurants, shops, and galleries, it’s the perfect place to spend a leisurely afternoon browsing and people watching. On Saturdays, the pace picks up even more when the farmers market sets up shop. Stalls overflow with local vendors and the air is filled with the sounds of laughter and conversation. Seguin is also known for its parks and recreation areas, including Starcke Park, which offers swimming, a nice playground, and picnicking. With its friendly atmosphere and laid-back lifestyle, Seguin is a great place to call home.
